     1st MARCH, 2013

Dear Visitor:

As you might have noticed my site has became silent since mid-2011. Now I started designing a new home page that will contain not only Star Wars but other pictures like Doctor Who, Once Upon a Time, Game of Thrones etc. - and even more. For the details of my plans and reasons please click here and be prepared for a long reading.

Shortly: In the past years I put a lot of effort (time and money) to the works I presented here but this 8-year-old site really deserves a huge reconstruction. I want a much wider still simpler, modern, visitor-friendly site but I cannot do it alone therefore I decided to recruit a professional. Now I would like to ask some help thus I kindly ask you to use the PayPal button below to donate if:

- you wish to acknowledge the past nine years and the hundreds of unique Star Wars pictures or

- you want to support the construction of the new site.

The button can also be found on the left side of my main pages. You can use your PayPal account or normal bank transfer from your bank account. I will be very thankful for any amount of donation you make. If you have a PayPal account the entire donation will be transferred to my account. If you do not, the amount will be decreased with a transfer fee. You can learn more about PayPal on their official site.

If you have a question or comment you can send me a mail to mail (at ) simonz (dot) co (dot) hu. (But before you do, please read my longer letter.) I will let you know about the news. And one more thing: thank you very much for still being here!

     19th JULY, 2011

It is a period of special updates.

Have you heard about Brayden, a terminally ill child who wishes a Star Wars room?

Brayden is a six-year-old boy who has been diagnosed with a mitochondrial dysfunction, a terminal disease. Brayden has lived a very rough six years in and out of the hospital and currently takes a minimum of 43 medications every day through a tube that le...ads to his stomach and intestines. He has a 20% chance to live past the age of eighteen.
He has requested a Star Wars room and a family friend has offered to help make it happen. He is asking for Star Wars gifts and financial donations to help with Brayden’s room remodel and to purchase specific items.
I believe Brayden definitely deserves a Star Wars room.

If you would like to help, please visit the official site of the action.

It is time to create a very special update again. One of the greatest stories ended last week. This picture celebrates the closure of the Harry Potter saga.

A technical information: from now, you can find me on Facebook as well. Join me and you will see the updates before they appear at simonz.co.hu - and you will get more non-Star Wars pictures.

The next update will be an Episode II poster from the same series like the previous one.

     22th DECEMBER, 2010

A few weeks ago, I submitted my PhD thesis in molecular biology. It took a lot of time to complete this task - that was one reason why I neglected my site and the Star Wars pictures so long. Sorry for that. I am also sorry that I cannot promise I will have more time in the future. A few months ago, I started a chocolate bar in Hungary with my friends producing hand-made bonbons and chocolates and that place also needs my designs, chocolate labels and other decorations as well.

Together with another friend, we started a new public course about Star Wars in Hungary this fall. Five lectures were organized, involving different invited speakers. I held two lectures: the one about the visual symbolism of the saga and another one about the thematic music by John Williams. The lessons attracted a nice public interest and I really enjoyed them.

Nevertheless, I present here the newest piece of my movie poster series. It is a bit of time travel, back to my old favorite, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. I hope you will enjoy it.

Finally, I wish a merry Christmas for you all.

STAR WARS SAGA POSTER: A NEW GUINNESS WORLD RECORD

Dorling Kindersley, and LEGO Group attempted to smash the Guinness World Record™ for creating the world's largest LEGO® mosaic, using my Star Wars Saga Poster.

Now the bricks have been counted and the size of the mosaic has been measured, and it has been confirmed that DK and the LEGO Group have broken a Guinness World Record for the largest image built with interlocking plastic bricks.

I also participated at the event; I built some parts of Yoda's head.

Here I would like to say thank you for everyone who participated at the event and helped to build the world's largest STAR WARS Lego poster, especially the main organizers: Dorling Kindersley and The Brickish Association.

More pictures are coming soon; until that, check the Dorling Kindersley Official Event Site.

STAR WARS SAGA POSTER IN 112 METRES SQUARE: A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT

Dorling Kindersley, publisher of many interesting Star Wars and LEGO books are holding a DK LEGO® Mega Mosaic Build where they will be attempting to smash the Guinness World Record™ for creating the world's largest LEGO® mosaic. I am happy to announce that my sagaposter has been chosen to be built, using 1,500 baseplates and a staggering 384,000 LEGO bricks. It will measure an incredible 16 x 7 meters (the current record is 80.48 meters square).

We are inviting all LEGO fans to come along to Shoreditch Town Hall in London between 23-25th October, 2010, and help create the world's largest LEGO® mosaic. The mosaic's image will be built with the help of LEGO specialists The Brickish Association. Once completed the LEGO bricks, worth £50,000, will be donated to the Kids Company's Toys for Christmas Appeal.

     22nd JUNE, 2010

I have just finished reading of  "The Making of STAR WARS: The Definitive Story Behind The Original Film" by J.W. Rinzler. The book amazed me; this is simply the best Star Wars-related book I have ever read.

My new poster, entitled "A New Hope", was inspired by this book. I dedicate this piece to the author and all the people who worked on the realization of the visual world of that galaxy far, far away and who worked on the original and modern posters; especially Ralph McQuarrie, Tommy Jung and Drew Struzan.

On 21th April, I will be an invited speaker at a lesson organized by Eszterházy Károly College. This time, the topic is the music of Star Wars. You can find my Hungarian event poster and my original, unmodified one entitled "Two Sides" below. (Bonus task: find out which Star Wars music can be found in the bottom part of the event poster. :)

     30th OCTOBER, 2009

I have spent the last two months creating a special poster series for TeeKay-421, the Belgian Star Wars Fan Club. These pictures were planned to be used as roll-up banners on different events. I designed three pairs: Empire vs. Rebels, Sith vs. Jedi, Grievous and the Droids vs. Artoo and Threepio. According to the rumors, they do their job well. :)

UPDATE: You can find some photos of the real-life versions below. They were taken at their first presentation at F.A.C.T.S. 2009  convention in Belgium. Next time they will appear on a John Williams-themed concert.

     29th SEPTEMBER, 2009

In this semester, the Hungarian Eszterházy Károly College organizes a Star Wars-themed course entitled "Anatomy of evil - Myth and Reality in Star Wars'". I have been selected as an invited speaker; my  talk will be held on 13th October. My topic will be the visual symbols in Star Wars movies. Other interesting talks will be held about the structure and symbols in the story of Star Wars; Conflict between good and evil (character development); Christianity and Buddhism in Star Wars; Effect on the popular culture etc.

I apologize for being so silent for three months - these were busy times but you can count on more frequent updates in this season.

The latest update is very unusual: the three-dimensional version of my Imperial promotion poster. The picture is created by Andrew Murchie from Enhanced Dimensions. The animated version can be found here. Blue-red anaglyph glasses are needed for perfect 3D experience (blue for the right eye, red for the left eye). I hope you like it!

The fourth birthday of the site. I reconstructed the Posters section, dividing the pictures into eight sections. I uploaded a very long description of my Essence of Star Wars poster and I made a wallpaper for Clone Wars Episode 2 which is my favorite episode. Thanks to Joe Mellen, you can find a technically corrected version of the sagaposter in this section.

I also mention that in the next update you will find the printable plans for my Saga Edition 6 DVD box set.

     23rd OCTOBER, 2008

The 45th issue of the Belgian SW fanzine Teekay Magazine, was published in September. Tim Veekhoven, the editor asked me to make a front cover for that issue, focusing on the funny side of Star Wars. (This was the second time because I created the back cover of the Luke-themed issue before. (See my Luke poster this May.)
Tim made a really deep and long interview with me which summarizes my fan activity well. After discussing this with him, I decided to put the whole unedited interview to my site as a great source of information about me. (I must mention that it was made this July therefore some of the answers are out of date.)

Star Wars: The Clone wars debuted in the USA at the beginning of this month. I like the animated series very much therefore you can expect some TCW wallpapers. :) Here is the first one: Episode I - Ambush. I apologize for the poor quality; my picture sources are limited.

In May, 2007 I created a Star Wars saga poster for the 30th anniversary of Star Wars. I have made two different versions: one with the main characters only and another one with a lot more characters. This latter one become very popular and I had hundreds of comments on this one. Among other things, these opinions inspired me to revise the poster. Here is the corrected version.

I would like to remind everyone that commercial usage of my works e. g. selling printed items on eBay etc. is still prohibited as I have mentioned it in the Information section.

I am celebrating the 3rd birthday of my site today. I think it was a fruitful year... I had two exhibitions: one in London and another one in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. You can find one of my works in the Star Wars Insider, and my site is the first Google hit for the search term "star wars wallpapers". My Star Wars saga poster (which you can see on the opening page, too) seems to appear on a lot of popular sites around the net.

Thank you very much for the kind words about my pictures. Thanks for the e-mails and guestbook entries. It still makes me happy that so many of you like my works.

I started a new section on my site called Celebration Europe. Here I collect all available information about the exhibition.

When I compiled the pictures for this exhibition I developed a logo as you can see below. It's based on the saga poster, I hope you like it.
